CINNAMON WILD ORANGE POPCORN BALLS

10/1/2017

For reference, I based my essential oil popcorn balls off of this recipe I found online.  I made a few changes along the way and of course added in essential oils.  Check out the original recipe if you have more of a sweet tooth and want to add in some candy pieces.

Ingredients

Gourmet Popcorn Kernels
Vegetable oil spray
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 drop of Wild Orange essential Oil
1 drop of Cinnamon essential oil
Cinnamon

Directions:

Pop your popcorn kernels using a hot air popcorn popper.  My popcorn popper uses 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels at a time which creates approximately 16 cups of popped popcorn.

Bring sugar, corn syrup, and salt to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cook over high heat until mixture reaches 255 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and essential oils.

Pour mixture over popcorn evenly, and continue tossing with plastic gloves until thoroughly coated (I used sandwich sized Ziploc bags coated in vegetable oil spray).  Please note - the mixture will be HOT.  Sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon over the popcorn and mix well.

Use your hands to shape into balls and transfer onto wax paper.  Let cool for at least 20 minutes.  I used cupcake liners to add a festive look to the popcorn balls and bagged them with some festive ribbon.  You could easily stir in frozen chocolate or other candies prior to making the balls.

Usage Tips and Recipe Ideas

Have you used Melaleuca (aka Tea Tree Oil) before?  If so, you are probably already aware of some of the amazing benefits this oil offers.  Did you know you can use Melaleuca oil to keep your fingernails and toenails looking and feeling healthy? Reap the benefits of Tea Tree oil for nails by applying some oil to your fingernails and toenails after you get out of the shower to keep them looking strong and healthy. When using Tea Tree oil topically, first dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to prevent against any skin sensitivity, and then apply a few drops to your skin.

Here are some ways we use doTERRA Melaleuca Essential Oil in our own home:
  • Several drops added to the bottom of my steam mop pad before steaming our tile
  • 5-6 Drops added to my diffuser to purify the air
  • Added to my DIY Cleaning Spray to help cleanse and purify surfaces
  • Added to warm water when using my all-time favorite Brookstone Foot Spa
  • A few drops added to my bath water
  • As an ingredient in my DIY Soothing Throat Spray
  • As an optional oil added to my DIY Bath & Foot Soak Recipe

The above are just a few examples I could think of as I was typing this post.  Here is another tried and true favorite DIY recipe that we use almost daily in our home.

DIY Moisturizing Soothing Skin Spray
(10) drops Melaleuca
(10) drops Lavender essential
(1) teaspoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO)
Distilled Water

Directions:
Add your essential oils and FCO to a 2-ounce spray bottle and top off with distilled water.  Spray over your skin as needed.  This makes an excellent after sun spray!  I even use this same spray after applying my makeup as a setting spray.  Can also be used as an everyday moisturizer, and for minor scrapes or skin discomfort.

When shopping for Tea Tree oil, you’ll want to ensure that the oil you choose is pure and high quality, in order to yield the benefits that the oil holds. Each doTERRA essential oil, including Melaleuca, is responsibly sourced, tested, and produced in a way that guarantees a high quality grade.

What is the iTOVi Scanner, you ask?

Let me tell you all about it!  Last night, my friend (and doTERRA upline) Laura messaged me to tell me she had just received her iTOVi scanner in the mail and she wanted me to come right over to try it out.  You guys...it was late and I was already in my pajamas, but that did not stop me from asking my husband to drive over with me so we could give the iTOVi scanner a whirl.  He probably thought I was a bit nuts like he does with most things I suggest, but he drove us over anyway.  We arrived, she met us in the driveway and she had her iPhone with the iTOVi app already installed and connected via Bluetooth to her iTOVi scanner.  She had my husband enter his personal information (name, address, email, height, weight, etc.) and then he held the scanner in the palm of his hand and within a couple of minutes his scan was complete.  We then emailed him his results and I repeated the same process for myself.  We were literally both done from start to finish within five minutes.  5 MINUTES!  I was able to view my own personalized scan report that listed recommended product suggestions based on the results of my scan.  I now have a better understanding of which doTERRA essential oils and products we need to incorporate into our lives.  Check out the screenshot below to see what my personalized scan report looked like.

As you can see, Spearmint essential oil was on my list, so I added it to my bath last night. I also added a couple of drops along with Lemon essential oil to my ice water today.  I loved the iTOVi so much I ordered my own scanner as soon as we got in the car!

For any of my Wellness Advocate friends and/or team members, please message me if you have questions or would like more information on how it works and how to get your own scanner.  If you are ready to get your own to use in your home/workplace and to assist when you host classes or talk to people about oils, please click on my referral link.
